Three courses were recently held at the GBM training centre in Dubai to upgrade the skills of participants on the IBM iSeries, i5 and in the AIX operating system.
One course covered iSeries System Admin and Control and ensured that participants could implement and manage the ongoing operations of the system. Emphasis was on security, system availability, backup and recovery, system software management, and problem determination. The participants were introduced to the architecture and terminology of the iSeries.
There was also an i5 and iSeries systems operator workshop held to develop the participant's skills needed to manage the day-today operations of the i5 and iSeries server, how the i5 and iSeries works from an end-user point of view at both basic and intermediate levels, enabling the participants to assist users and
manage system operations.
The AIX 5L Basics course was an Introductory course held on IBM's pSeries eServer Operating System AIX . The course teaches participants to perform day to day tasks on the pSeries server using AIX Version 5.3. This was a fundamental course for users who would like to know the basics of Unix and who will then
graduate to advanced courses in the area of AIX System Administration.
