Muscat, Oman, July 2009: Gulf Business Machines (GBM) Oman - sole distributors for selected IBM products and services in Oman - announced the appointment of Youssef Fawaz to the position of networking manager to further strengthen its operations and partnerships in the country.
Fawaz brings with him a wealth of experience having worked in the Middle East for over 10 years. In his new role, Fawaz will be responsible for leading the Information Networking & Site Services division within GBM Oman, where he will develop and implement service plans to ensure maximum customer satisfaction. In addition, Fawaz will deliver profitable business solutions with a quick return on investment to GBM's customers.

Prior to his GBM assignment, Fawaz worked with NCR Corporation in UAE as the regional sales director for Global Networking Solutions, where he developed the strategy guidelines and supervised the company's overall business development plans.

Previously, Fawaz worked in Oman as the IT divisional manager for Mideast Data Systems (MDS), a leading firm in consulting services and building solutions serving medium sized & enterprise businesses in the Middle East and GCC. His main achievement was positioning MDS Oman from a box mover to one of the top three IT companies delivering IT turnkey solutions within Oman market.

In addition, Fawaz held several key IT positions in Lebanon, where he launched and developed GSM operator, LibanCell's intranet and website as the team leader for the e-business committee. He was also the founder and general manager for Lotus Computers in Beirut.

Fawaz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Middle East Canadian Academy of Technology in Lebanon. He is fluent in English, Arabic and French.
